Exalt Expands Public Safety Product Portfolio With ExtendAir 4.9 GHz Microwave Backhaul Systems

Systems Support Mission-Critical Applications, Reduce Deployment Costs and Transport up to 160 Mbps With Pay-As-You-Grow Upgradeability

CAMPBELL, CA–(Marketwire – 02/08/10) – Exalt Communications, the company that is reinventing microwave backhaul, today announced that it has expanded its breakthrough ExtendAir product line with the ExtendAir r4900 Series, a new line of all-outdoor microwave backhaul systems for the licensed 4.9 GHz public safety frequency. With prices starting at under $7,000 per link, ExtendAir r4900 Series systems slash deployment costs for public agencies requiring highly secure, mission-critical microwave links that deliver a class-leading 160 Mbps Ethernet plus optional native 4xT1/E1 traffic capabilities. These newest systems join the Exalt public safety product portfolio that also includes all-indoor systems configured for the licensed 4.9 GHz public safety frequency band, and all-outdoor systems configured for the 4.5 GHz government and NATO band.

“Exalt 4.9 GHz radio systems have given us rock-solid reliability for our emergency communications network,” said Chris Kindelspire, electronics manager for Grundy County, Illinois Emergency Telephone System Board. “The ExtendAir r4900 Series products will give us new, lower-cost options for expanding our system when needed in the future.”

ExtendAir r4900 Series radio systems are compact, rugged, all-outdoor units operating in the licensed 4.9 GHz band providing mission-critical reliability over distances of up to 30 miles. These systems incorporate FIPS 197-compliant 128- and 256-bit AES encryption for ironclad traffic security with secure SNMP v3 management. The ExtendAir r4900 Series systems also offer throughput symmetry control that allows public safety agencies to dedicate up to 80 percent of total aggregate traffic in either the upstream or downstream direction to better support highly asymmetrical applications such as video surveillance or remote dispatch including P25 backhaul. Moreover, like all Exalt microwave backhaul systems, ExtendAir r4900 Series systems support native T1/E1 traffic as needed, and they can optionally be configured with three 10/100BaseT ports to further reduce costs by eliminating the need for a separate Ethernet switch.

“We recognize that nowhere is the need for high performance, reliability and security more critical than in public safety deployments supporting the work of law enforcement agencies and other first-responders,” said Amir Zoufonoun, president and CEO of Exalt Communications. “Our ExtendAir systems not only provide these capabilities, but are priced to meet the requirements of even the most budget-constrained departments. Recognizing the challenges we face in today’s world, we consider the public safety market one of our most important, and we will continue to deliver products that help agencies successfully carry out their missions.”

All Exalt microwave backhaul systems offer guaranteed link availability, guaranteed throughput and low, constant latency. Systems are available in world bands from 2 to 40 GHz and in capacities from 10 Mbps to more than 700 Mbps per channel, providing a range of options to fit countless network applications. Designed to enable a smooth transition to IP, they offer native support for both TDM and Ethernet, and are fully software configurable and upgradeable. For easy and secure management using third-party network management systems, Exalt systems support SNMP v1, v2c and v3. Data security is provided by available FIPS 197-compliant AES 128-bit and 256-bit encryption that adds zero latency to the transmission. To simplify installation and maintenance, all Exalt systems feature an embedded manual and most include a built-in spectrum analyzer.

Voiceserve Will Be Launching The Voipswitch Blackberry Dialer At The GSMA

Voiceserve is First Time Exhibitor at 2010 Barcelona GSMA Mobile World Congress February 15-18

LONDON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Voiceserve, Inc. (OTC BB: VSRV – News), a low-cost, next-generation Internet Telephony software and service provider, today announced its participation as an exhibitor at the 2010 Barcelona GSMA Mobile World Congress February 15-18. The GSMA represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry uniting the world’s mobile operators, handset makers, software companies, equipment providers, Internet companies and media organizations. Its annual convention is the largest mobile event of the year drawing approximately 50,000 attendees. This is Voiceserve, Inc’s first participation in the convention and is one of the only companies exhibiting a mobile VoIP dialer out of the 1,300 companies displaying their cutting-edge products and technology at the annual GSMA Mobile Congress. Voiceserve’s booth is located in the UK pavilion at Stand 1F61.

Voiceserve creates the opportunity for ISP’s, VoIP resellers and business entrepreneurs to establish a VoIP telephony enterprise. Voiceserve’s Voipswitch license has expanded its range of modules to include the full range of mobile dialers. The Voiceserve Voipswitch Mobile dialer is a simple software package that enables regular cell phone users to make calls using a mobile phone via an Internet connection. Voiceserve has developed a simple module which is downloadable onto most mobile phone units. A mobile dialer may be used by companies attempting to reduce operational costs or by individuals who simply want to save money on their monthly cell phone bill. Once the dialer has been downloaded onto the unit, the phone has the capacity to make a call either via the 3G, edge or WIFI connection thus reducing the costs dramatically.

The Voipswitch Dialer range caters for the Symbian (Nokia), Windows® and Android phones. At the convention Voiceserve will be launching its VoIP dialer for Blackberry, a feature which will enable wide spread Blackberry users globally.

In addition to making a VoIP phone call through a mobile phone, Voiceserve is one of the first to provide users all the cellular features to which they have become accustomed including SMS text, conference call, call waiting, video conferencing, voice mail and call forwarding.

Michael Bibelman, Voiceserve’s CEO, commented, “Our software and its broad spectrum of modules creates the opportunity for the masses to become VoIP resellers giving clients access to VoIP telephony from the wide range of mobile units. With the launch of the Blackberry dialer, our range of mobile dialers is complete. We are very excited to have the opportunity to exhibit at the GSMA thus giving our company the chance to significantly boost our visibility in the market. While we have a highly active internal sales effort as well as an external effort through over 30 wholesale relationships, we find attendance at conventions a powerful opportunity to stand out. Consequently, this year we plan to attend eight of the largest telecommunications conventions around the world which is twice the number of conventions we attended in 2009.”

Tourism Vancouver Launches “CitySmart” Mobile App

Partnership with SatSports and HTC results in interactive application for tourism information

LONDON, ENGLAND–(Marketwire – 02/08/10) – Visitors to Vancouver will now be able to download a free application for their smart phones that puts a complete guide to the city in the palm of their hand.

The application, named “CitySmart”, inspired by Tourism Vancouver and developed in partnership with mobile GPS navigation developer SatSports Ltd and Smartphone manufacturer HTC. It’s the world’s first completely interactive tourist and sporting event mobile application, providing live updated tourist and event information, (Vancouver are currently using this feature for the Winter Olympics) plus an advanced GPS system that provides detailed street navigation and breaking news on traffic situations.

The CitySmart application can be downloaded free of charge from the Tourism Vancouver website, located at www.tourismvancouver.com/download.

“We’re excited to partner with SatSports and HTC on such a ground-breaking mobile application,” said Tourism Vancouver’s Walt Judas, vice president of Visitor Services & Communications. “With live messaging and constant updates, CitySmart is a virtual tour guide in your pocket, assisting you at every step of your trip.”

Tourism Vancouver “City Hosts” will be equipped with the HTC smart phones to assist visitors at various locations throughout the downtown area.

Judas also believes the new application will be of interest to Vancouver residents looking for reliable local information plus cab drivers and limousine services needing up-to-the minute reports on road closures, traffic blockages, locations and access points for major venues.

“This application is going to change the way host cities interact with visitors and event spectators, and HTC is excited to have our hardware showcased,” said Francois Gravel of HTC. These devices, along with this integrated mobile application, will streamline Tourism Vancouver’s interaction with tourists by assisting them in giving directions and providing event information from all its visitor centres.

With SMS (text messaging) capabilities built in, the application also allows Tourism Vancouver to interact with visitors anywhere in the city, no matter what their activity. Application users will receive live updates (via text messages) that will notify them of points of interest, weather reports, traffic alerts and news flashes. CitySmart will also provide transit planning and emergency service contacts, along with visitor centre locations.

“SatSports has been revolutionizing sports experiences through GPS hardware and mobile applications for a number of years,” said Jean-Claude Baumgartner, Managing Director of SatSports Ltd. “With our new partnership with Tourism Vancouver, we’re going to be revolutionizing the visitor experience as well.”
