xG Technology Demonstrates The xMax 2.0 System, Next-Generation xMax Wireless Broadband System

xG Technology Successfully Demonstrates High Quality Mobile Broadband Connection

xMax Cognitive Radio System Integrates Transparently with Off-The-Shelf Smartphones and Laptops

SARASOTA, Fla., May 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — xG Technology, the developer of a portfolio of wireless communications technologies, including cognitive radio networks, announced today the successful demonstration of the latest version of its next-generation xMax wireless broadband system. The xMax 2.0 system delivered wireless data at broadband speeds to a group of rural telco executives’ smartphones and laptops while they were traveling in a moving vehicle near xG’s Fort Lauderdale facilities. Users were able to seamlessly access the Internet through the xMax system without using a commercial cellular connection or using any capacity from their cellular data plans.

“Independent telecom operators need to have a cost-effective and high-performance wireless capability if they are to remain relevant to today’s consumers, who are demanding more mobile broadband connectivity and services in rural markets,” said Townes Tele-Communications, Inc. (“Townes”) Chief Executive Officer, Larry Townes, one of the executives present for the demonstration. “I was impressed by xG’s progress, as well as the capabilities xG was able to deliver to my smartphone without using any of my cellular minutes or data allotment. My managers like that xMax will allow them to deliver new services to their customers’ existing mobile devices.”

Townes recently completed xMax network trials in its Lewisville, Ark., market, as well as in one of its other rural markets in MacClenny, Fla. xG has also signed memoranda of understanding with additional independent telecommunications carriers to conduct deployment trials once sufficient quantities of the new generation of xMax equipment becomes available.

The xMax equipment demonstrated has application across a range of wireless markets since the system is able to deliver a broadband connection using free, unlicensed spectrum. The frequencies used in the demonstration were crowded and had significant interference; however, xG’s newly developed multi-antenna technology was able to deliver increased range and connection reliability even under these harsh conditions.

“These results have confirmed the performance predicted by the detailed propagation simulation models developed by xG’s engineering team,” said Scott Garlington, Engineering VP at xG. “We continue to make steady progress in the integration and commercialization of our IP portfolio and it is great to see that the system is living up to our high expectations.”

These new broadband data capabilities build upon xMax’s proven voice and messaging features, and will enable xG to offer a single fully integrated mobile solution capable of delivering everything over Internet Protocol (EoIP) to any IP-enabled end user device. Customer demonstrations for xMax cognitive radio systems are expected to accelerate throughout the remainder of the second and third quarters of 2012, with commercial availability of xMax expected in early 2013.

RayV Technologies Launches RayV Cloud TV, the Way Users View Live TV and VOD Content on PCs, Smartphones, Tablets and Connected TVs

RayV Technologies Launches The Next Leap in Online Video: HD Streaming Without Buffering

Revolutionary technology that delivers Live TV and VOD content to any platform – PC, Mac, iOS, Android and Smart TV- in record time

TEL AVIV, Israel–(BUSINESS WIRE)–

RayV Technologies launched RayV Cloud TV – an innovative platform that revolutionizes the way users view Live TV and VOD content on their PCs, smartphones, tablets and connected TVs. RayV Cloud TV enables users to watch VOD content and live streaming at unprecedented quality (OTT – Over the Top) without buffering.

Key Features:

Streaming without buffering. The encoding technology enables the entire video content to be delivered without downloading. The user simply streams the chosen content, regardless of the connection speed.

Short loading between channels. Zapping between various content channels is as immediate as flipping through browser tabs.

Genuine social viewing. RayV Cloud TV synchronizes itself with Facebook and the movies’ and TV series’ database.

How does it work?
RayV’s platform receives an external feed (Live/VOD) and relays it to local servers; the signal is then shared by active users. Upon receiving the chosen content, every user passes on a small part of it to other users. Thus, anyone connected receives the entire video, eliminating buffering time.

This solution’s advantages are evident: there is no need to download files which increases computer security, reduces hard drive space and bandwidth overload.

By utilizing inactive users as ‘amplifiers’ (which contribute a small portion of their bandwidth without actually receiving the video), RayV‘s platform addresses the problem of the DSL networks limited uploading speed.

RayV Technologies markets its technology to communication service providers (e.g. telephony providers, mobile operators etc.), TV channels, content owners and others. RayV Cloud TV is an end-to-end solution which reduces infrastructure investment to a minimum and cable companies worldwide already use RayV’s services to offer their customers video content.

According to Shlomi Cohen, RayV’s CEO, “From PCs to smartphones, tablets and connected TVs, RayV is changing the viewing experience of millions of users worldwide. The current TV sector is attracting technological giants such as Apple and Google. RayV offers a trailblazing solution, protected by dozens of registered patents, which enables the delivery of Live and VoD streaming at unparalleled quality.

Blue Coat Systems Announces K9 Web Protection Browser to Protects Individuals and Families from Malicious Threats

Blue Coat Introduces Free, Family-Safe Web Browser to Protect Children and Families on Android Phones and Tablets

K9 Web Protection Browser Provides Real-Time Protection Against Inappropriate Material, Malicious Threats and Phishing

SUNNYVALE, CA–(Marketwire -05/09/12)- Blue Coat Systems, Inc., the technology leader in Web security and WAN optimization solutions, today announced the availability of K9™ Web Protection Browser for Android, extending Blue Coat’s initiative to provide safe Internet access on mobile devices. The new app protects individuals and families from malicious threats — including phishing and malware — on mobile phones and tablets. Available free of charge from the Google Play market, the app also provides real-time filtering of content that is not appropriate for young children, including pornography, hate/violence, illegal drugs and gambling. With this app and the previously released K9 Web Protection Browser for Apple iOS app, Blue Coat is extending the same enterprise-class Web security that protects 85 percent of the FORTUNE Global 500 to mobile devices that comprise 67 percent of the smartphone market.

The adoption of mobile devices has skyrocketed over the last two years, giving users the ability to access the Internet from anywhere. Unlike home computers, that typically have a variety of security protections in place, mobile devices typically lack even basic protections against Web-based threats or inappropriate content.

This lack of protection is particularly concerning given the risky behavior in which mobile users engage and quickly growing use of mobile Internet devices by young children. According to the Blue Coat 2012 Web Security Report, for example, social networking is the second most popular activity on mobile devices and the fourth most popular entry point into malnets (malware networks), infrastructures embedded in the Internet that cybercriminals use to drive unsuspecting users to malware. Without the protection of a Web security solution, mobile users face greater exposure to malware that could steal personal information or co-opt their phone into a botnet.

As with Blue Coat’s K9 Web Protection software for PC and Mac computers and the K9 Web Protection Browser for iOS, the K9 Web Protection Browser for Android is backed by the company’s WebPulse™ collaborative defense, which provides users with proactive, “negative day” protection that blocks malware attacks before they launch. On a typical day, WebPulse blocks 3.3 million Web-based threats. Driven by Web requests from 75 million users worldwide, the WebPulse collaborative defense analyzes and categorizes new and evolving Web content in real time, giving parents the ability to immediately block new or previously undiscovered objectionable material. For example, on a typical day, WebPulse identifies over 180,000 pages of new or previously uncategorized pornography and adult content.

With this app, the K9 Web Protection Browser becomes the default browser, replacing other browsers that lack the content controls and Web security required to keep children and families safe online. The app is also fully integrated with K9 SafeSearch to remove all malicious or inappropriate links in search engine results, phony advertising or social networking, and prevents navigation to sites known to be used for phishing or to download malicious software. Like K9 Web Protection for PC and Mac computers and the K9 Web Protection Browser for iOS, the new Android app is provided at no cost to families and individuals as a community service.

“Mobile devices are quickly becoming a primary platform for Web access by nearly all age groups. The adoption of these mobile devices has moved faster than the security required to protect the users of those devices, creating a considerable challenge for parents that want to provide a consistently safe Web experience for their children,” said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of corporate and business development, Blue Coat Systems. “K9 Web Protection Browser for Android is the first solution to provide parents with protection they can rely on and also represents a significant step in our strategy to secure and manage Web access for any user in any location on any device.”

The K9 Web Protection Browser for Android is available as a free download from Google Play, the online application marketplace: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bluecoat.k9.android. For more information, or for the PC or Mac versions of K9 Web Protection, please go to: http://www.k9webprotection.com/. The K9 Web Protection Browser for iOS is available for free from the Apple App Store.
