Free to Download At www.werok.net, Free to Use and Globally Available, WeROK Delivers Internet Access for Mobile Phones to Include Low-Cost Mobile Text, Free Mobile Email and Free Mobile TV Services Via Wi-Fi

ROK Entertainment Group (http://www.rokent.com), the mobile technology, applications and services company, and WeFi Inc. (http://www.wefi.com), creator of the first open, community-based global Wi-Fi network, today announced the launch of WeROK, a Wi-Fi powered mobile portal enabling Internet access for mobile phones to include low-cost texting and free mobile phone services.

WeROK combines WeFi’s high-performance global Wi-Fi network with ROK Entertainment’s unique portfolio of mobile services. These applications include low-cost SMS, mobile email services, free-streamed mobile TV and mobile social network services. Free to download at http://www.werok.net, WeROK is currently accessible on any Wi-Fi enabled Symbian S60 mobile phone, as well as PCs.

WeROK’s mobile service suite is powered by WeFi, which dramatically enhances the wireless network user experience with mobile and portable devices. It provides a high performance, open and global broadband wireless network by combining a community-generated database, a smart connection manager and a dynamic Access Point/Hotspot directory. WeFi connects users to Wi-Fi access points where Internet access has already been verified by other WeFi-enabled devices — dubbed “community-verified spots” — in a growing network of over 20 million access points.

“WeROK is a unique development and a giant leap forward in mobile and web convergence,” said Jonathan Kendrick, Chairman and CEO of ROK Entertainment Group. “It’s an advertising-funded mobile services application which enables handsets to automatically and seamlessly access Wi-Fi zones in order to route mobile activities via the Internet.

“In our testing of WeROK, we have seen savings of up to 85% being made on text services compared to the cost of using traditional network-based texting and through combining WeFi’s highly innovative Wi-Fi technologies with our suite of web-enabled mobile services, we are very excited to be launching WeROK on a global scale,” added Kendrick.

“Increased Wi-Fi availability is incredibly useful in unleashing mobile Internet applications and services,” said Zur Feldman, CEO of WeFi. “WeFi is thrilled to be working with ROK Entertainment on WeROK, enabling users to enhance their mobile entertainment and communication activities, all the time utilizing a PC-like Internet experience over a mobile phone.”

McAfee Announces the Release of McAfee Unified Threat Management (UTM) Firewalls

McAfee, Inc. Releases Unified Threat Management Firewall for Small to Medium Sized Businesses and Remote Offices

Competitive Pricing and Comprehensive Features Help SMBs Put Security First

McAfee, Inc. (NYSE: MFE – News) today announced the release of its line of McAfee Unified Threat Management (UTM) Firewalls. The McAfee UTM Firewalls, formerly referred to as SnapGear, are multifunctional network security appliances that are attractive to small and mid-sized (SMBs) businesses based on their competitive pricing, reliability and ease of use.

The appliances are available in seven different models for small to medium sized businesses and come fully integrated with intrusion prevention, network firewall protection, and VPN services. Optional modules include enterprise-class technology such as TrustedSource™ reputation ratings for mail filtering, and Web filtering for protection against known and unknown threats, which can include anti-malware, anti-spyware, and anti-virus capabilities. They can be easily deployed in remote substations, such as large enterprise branch offices or retail locations, or at a vendor’s site to provide strong authentication of devices attempting to access critical assets.

The UTM Firewall family now includes key new features and functionality under the McAfee brand, including:

  • Centralized management and new dashboards—users can now securely manage any of the UTM appliances centrally via a new feature-rich browser based McAfee UTM Firewall Control Center, and gain an overall picture of their network and device status at a glance
  • Active intrusion detection and prevention—proactively monitors network events and alert network personnel when there is suspicious activity using an enterprise class signature set
  • 3G Wireless Support—Models with USB ports are able to support 3G wireless connectivity for a primary connection or backup/failover

For more information on the UTM Firewall models and features, please visit http://www.mcafee.com/us/enterprise/products/network_security/utm_firewall.html.

“Unified threat management devices continue to be in high demand and are the predominate security appliance that SMBs will be looking for in 2009,” said Chris Christiansen, IDC. “They help SMBs respond to cost-cutting initiatives, managing their risk, and meeting their compliance regulations programs. Devices that offer a wide range of security solutions in an integrated package with a platform for subscription-based security services will remain to be the most viable.”

As part of McAfee’s focus on its small and medium customers’ security needs, it recently conducted a survey with MSI International of McAfee SMB customers to better understand the UTM opportunity for SMBs. Findings suggested that the most-utilized features by customers on a UTM device are network firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, and virtual private networking capabilities. McAfee has ensured these features are available on all devices without licensing restrictions, which is important for smaller, growing organizations.

“McAfee UTM Firewall is a complete office network-in-a-box Internet security appliance that can be deployed as a firewall, VPN gateway or UTM security appliance,” said Darrell Rodenbaugh, senior vice president of McAfee’s midmarket segment. “With its smart, simple and secure functionality, it also perfectly aligns with McAfee’s security management approach to help its smaller businesses maintain a very strong security posture in just 15 minutes a day.”

Availability
McAfee UTM Firewall is available now through McAfee and its channel partners.

Stage 2 Networks and BroadSoft Announce Enhanced Call Screening Feature for Customers

Stage 2 Networks and BroadSoft Develop Enhanced Call Screening

New Feature Creates Enhanced Functionality for Hosted PBX Customers

Stage 2 Networks, a leader in hosted PBX solutions, today announced that it will be offering an Enhanced Call Screening feature for its hosted PBX service. Stage 2 originally purchased a Hosted PBX solution from BroadSoft®, the leading worldwide provider of VoIP applications. Leveraging BroadSoft’s Web services, both companies worked together to develop an Enhanced Call Screening feature that will be offered to Stage 2′s customers as an additional service attribute.

A typical Call Screening feature allows a party receiving a phone call to hear the identification of a caller without human intervention, when the system identifies a 10-digit phone number in Caller ID. The caller would speak his name when prompted and the receiving party would hear the name and choose whether to answer the call or let it ring into voicemail. However, Stage 2 had a customer specification of the Call Screening function requiring the caller’s name to be announced, even when the system identifies the 10-digit phone number as “Anonymous” or “Private”.

“The power and extensibility inherent in BroadSoft’s BroadWorks® platform enabled us to quickly and easily accommodate our customer’s requirement. BroadSoft was extremely responsive to our need and collaborated with us to develop the new functionality,” said Joseph P. Gillette, president and CEO of Stage 2 Networks. “Without BroadWorks’ robust capabilities, we would have had to go off of our network and pay additional 3rd party fees to offer this function to our customers, and thus increasing the monthly cost of service for the end user. Using Xsi-Media, BroadSoft’s standards-compliant VoiceXML/ccXML capabilities, Stage 2 engineers quickly modified the specific functionality of the software.”

“BroadSoft is responsive to our customers’ requirements, which is why we created BroadSoft Xtended, a program that enables developers and our service provider customers to share code and platform enhancements,” said Leslie Ferry, vice president of marketing at BroadSoft. “Stage 2 took our Xsi-Media solution, modified it and went to market with an Enhanced Call Screening solution in an extremely short time.”

To learn more about BroadSoft’s Xtended Developers program, the Xtended Services Interface (Xsi) APIs and Xsi-Media, please visit http://developer.broadsoft.com.

Stage 2 continually strives to add and/or replace as much user functionality as possible. As evidenced, the Enhanced Call Screening feature now works on every incoming call regardless of whether the system recognizes a caller’s phone number.

About Stage 2 Networks
Stage 2 offers a robust and redundant network with connectivity, quality of service and local number portability available across the country and, often, around the world. Our services include hosted PBX service, a business phone system solution without the capital expenditure typically associated with purchasing a new phone system. Stage 2 also provides phone line replacement at reduced cost with enhanced functionality, whether POTS or PRI services. Finally, all of Stage 2′s products are supported by robust data connectivity that can fully integrate its customers’ communication platform for both voice and data services across multiple locations. Stage 2′s productivity-enhancing features and functionality serve to differentiate its products and offer an added bonus to its customers.

About BroadSoft
BroadSoft® provides VoIP application software that enables the delivery of hosted telephony and multimedia services. After the 2008 acquisitions of Sylantro and the GENBAND M6 product line, BroadSoft has emerged as the undisputed market leader of VoIP application servers. BroadSoft’s family of carrier-class products, including its award-winning flagship BroadWorks® technology, empowers wireless, wireline and cable carriers to deliver next-generation voice and multimedia applications and advanced features that enable them to increase revenue, enhance competitive differentiation and elevate customer satisfaction. BroadSoft’s products deliver the scale, open architecture and reliability that the world’s leading telecommunications companies demand to serve mission-critical enterprise and residential broadband customers. BroadSoft provides VoIP applications to eight of the top 10 and 14 of the top 25 largest carriers worldwide, as measured by recent annual revenue, including KPN, Korea Telecom, Qwest, SingTel, Sprint, Swisscom, Telefonica de Espana, Telstra, T-Systems, and Verizon.
