Proxim Wireless Launches Latest Orinoco(R) WLAN Access Point AP-8100

Powerful Performance + Modest Price = Compelling Value

SILICON VALLEY, CA–(Marketwired – Apr 2, 2013) – Proxim Wireless Corporation (PINKSHEETS: PRXM), a global leader in advanced indoor and outdoor radio systems, today introduced the latest member of the ORiNOCO® family of enterprise-class Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) access points — the ORiNOCO AP-8100 (http://www.proxim.com/products/enterprise-wireless-lan-wi-fi-mesh).

“The Orinoco AP-8100 has an arsenal of features that makes Proxim access points a great product for enterprises,” said Martin Bauer of Bauer Audio, who has deployed Orinoco access points in multi-storied hotel projects.

Product Applications

The AP-8100 has been designed to meet the indoor Wi-Fi wireless connectivity needs for the enterprise market segment, which includes a wide variety of entities such as hotels and hospitality venues, hospitals and other medical care facilities, schools and universities, “hot spot” Internet connectivity providers (both as an amenity and as a paid service), as well as state, local and federal governmental agencies. The connectivity needs of this market segment are as varied as the organizations themselves and can include:

  • 3G/4G Mobile data offload: Relieving over-stressed cellular networks by offloading the ever-increasing demands for “data to the handheld” to a Wi-Fi network. The AP-8100 with the cloud based remote management is able to deliver a “no configuration” rapid deployment model, enabling lower install cost and time. The AP-8100 also meets other key service provider requirements like robust performance, remote visibility/control, and integration with the 3GPP core for unified policy management.
  • Connected Schools: The AP-8100 enables online and electronic learning models for the digital classroom by delivering high capacity bandwidth to handle smart phones, tablets, e-readers, and online video session. TCC Announces Interoperable Family of DSD-72B-SP SONET/SDH Path Encryptors for Optical Networks

TCC Announces Affordable, Strategic-Level Data Encryption for Optical Networks

Maximum performance, security and ease of use with automated KEYNET management and protocol-agnostic technology

CONCORD, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–

Technical Communications Corporation (TCCO) announces its interoperable family of DSD-72B-SP SONET/SDH path encryptors, providing global, strategic-level security to prevent interception of all types of communications transmitted over fiber optic networks, while being easy and cost-effective to implement and manage.

John Maher, director of Engineering and Product Development at TCC, said, “DSD-72B-SP encryption devices integrate seamlessly as a network overlay on existing networks — no network modification is required, network performance is not affected, and encryption devices are only needed at the end points of the network.”

SDH/SONET headers are transparently processed, allowing the DSD-72B-SP to interoperate with any standard SDH or SONET network element such as multiplexors. Individual path virtual container data payloads are encrypted, leaving the path overhead unencrypted for unrestricted network switching of each VC with no plaintext exposure of the path-encrypted data payload.

Automated Key and Device Management

The DSD-72B-SP secure network is centrally deployed, configured and managed by TCC’s advanced online KEYNET Optical Manager. Network policies are supported, and automated key management, logs, alerts and polls provide trusted secure communications.

“With KEYNET, a network expert is not needed to manage network security. The level of security and ease of use of KEYNET, combined with the efficiency and performance of our protocol-agnostic technology, makes DSD-72B-SP encryption a cost-effective investment,” added Maher.

Cryptography

The DSD-72B-SP is a FIPS 140-2 Level-3 designed, hardware-based encryption device in a tamper-proof, rack-mountable appliance using three-tier symmetric key management with AES 256-bit algorithm. National algorithms can also be integrated without hardware modification.

Specifications

The DSD-72B-SP is exportable and operates at either 622.08Mb/s or 155.52Mb/s, and is available in industrial, government and military variants. Contact TCC Sales at 978-287-5100, tccinfo@tccsecure.com.

Ethertronics Expands EtherDAS Indoor USA Line of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), EtherDAS 1.5 and EtherDAS S

Ethertronics Unveils Innovative EtherDAS 1.5™ and EtherDAS S™ Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Solutions for Superior Indoor Wireless Coverage

New -153dBC Low-PIM DAS Solutions Deliver Even More Precise Coverage; Expand Ethertronics’ EtherDAS Indoor USA™ Product Portfolio

SAN DIEGO, April 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Ethertronics, a leading technology company enabling innovative antenna and RF system solutions to deliver the best connected experience, today announced that the company has expanded its EtherDAS Indoor USA™ line of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) with two new products – EtherDAS 1.5™ and EtherDAS S™.

Like Ethertronics’ flagship EtherDAS Indoor™ family of antennas, both EtherDAS 1.5 and EtherDAS S are capable of achieving industry-leading passive intermodulation (PIM) performance of -153dBc in all 2G, 3G and 4G bands – from 700MHz through 2.7GHz – delivering on mobile operators’ stringent PIM requirements for DAS. A low PIM figure indicates that a DAS system can minimize interference and provide noticeably superior performance and faster throughput on both the uplink and downlink. Ethertronics’ EtherDAS Indoor line of DAS products is the first to achieve this low PIM specification.

EtherDAS 1.5 provides a Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) spec of 1.5:1 for an optimum impedance match, providing higher transmit power and improved performance.

EtherDAS S employs Ethertronics’ innovative, proprietary technique to shape the antenna’s radiation pattern. The result is optimal wireless coverage within the building, such as an office or hotel lobby. Keeping the signal strength inside a given building improves connectivity within the office space and minimizes interference with other DAS signals from surrounding buildings, solving a major pain point for wireless operators and their DAS customers.

“With mobile use at an all-time high, mobile operators are increasingly focusing on improving in-building coverage and capacity – particularly for LTE,” said Olivier Robin, GM Americas & Europe for Ethertronics. “Given their low-PIM and VSWR specifications, our new EtherDAS 1.5 and EtherDAS S products are ideal solutions for mobile operators as they are a powerful tool for meeting in-building needs while reducing their macro base station CapEx and OpEx numbers and minimizing their need to purchase additional spectrum. Given their proprietary design techniques, EtherDAS 1.5 and EtherDAS S antennas also greatly benefit users by delivering high-performance uplink and downlink speeds and ubiquitous connectivity while inside buildings.”

In addition to featuring a compact design and neutral color so they blend in with their surroundings, both products are available in three versions – N connector, DIN connector and 500mm pigtail with N connector, providing installation flexibility. EtherDAS 1.5 and EtherDAS S are assembled in the USA.

The EtherDAS Indoor family of products latest additions underscore Ethertronics’ commitment to providing innovative solutions to the DAS market for a superior user experience. EtherDAS is the latest example of Ethertronics’ leadership in developing industry-first RF solutions for cellular, Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and WiMAX. To date, Ethertronics has shipped more than 650 million passive and active RF solutions to leading OEM and ODM customers.

To request a meeting with Ethertronics at the Verizon IBTUF, DAS in Action and DAS & Small Cells Congress events, please contact DAS@ethertronics.com.
