PCTEL Releases the SeeGull EX Scanning Receiver for TD-LTE

PCTEL Announces TD-LTE Scanning Receiver

TD-LTE Capable SeeGull® EX Scanning Receiver Brings Advanced Measurement to LTE Networks Using Unpaired Spectrum

Crucial For China’s Cellular Applications

PCTEL, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCTI), a leader in antenna and scanning receiver solutions, announced today the release of the SeeGull EX scanning receiver for TD-LTE. The SeeGull EX can now be used to test commercial wireless networks that use TD-LTE, the preferred 4G technology in many countries, including China and India.

The SeeGull EX Scanning Receiver is specially designed to meet the unique challenges of configuring and optimizing TD-LTE networks. Unlike FD-LTE, TD-LTE uses a single frequency band that shares capacity between downlink and uplink data streams. A variety of TD-LTE configurations allow network operators to balance the uplink and downlink system capacity. While these configurations make TD-LTE highly flexible, they also add complexity to the system and make it difficult to provide rapid and accurate network measurements. The SeeGull EX solves these problems by automatically detecting the TD-LTE configuration allowing engineers to verify network setup. PCTEL scanning receivers also provide high dynamic range and scanning speed while measuring signals over the entire LTE signal bandwidth.

“PCTEL’s latest scanning receiver brings the most complete set of measurements in the industry to TD-LTE operators, who are currently testing networks in Asia, Australia, Europe and the Americas,” said Jeff Miller, PCTEL’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “With tools including LTE Power Analysis, sub-band measurements, and uplink/downlink configuration detection, the SeeGull EX will help engineers provide a smooth rollout of this exciting new technology.”

The SeeGull EX TD-LTE scanning receiver will be available in Q3 of 2011. For more information, contact PCTEL or your drive test solution provider.
