MetroStrand™ Single-Sector Strand-Mount Solutions Based on Lindsay’s Field-Proven Platforms Bring MSO Connectivity to Wazco’s MetroStorm™ Product Family
Wazco, the leading provider of multi-sector metro LTE picocells, and Lindsay Broadband, last-mile communications product leader, today announced a first-of-its-kind, strand-mounted optical backhaul solution for Wazco’s family of MetroStorm basestations. Dubbed “MetroStrand,” these LTE 4G-enabled optical gateways allow cable operators to deploy managed gigabit services “right at the strand.”
“MetroStrand is specifically designed to take full advantage of existing multiple system operator (MSO) assets,” explained Mike Nasco, Wazco’s CEO. “MetroStrand is specifically designed to be deployed in less than an hour, allowing rapid, straightforward, cost-effective, and scalable network augmentation. In addition, MetroStrand is powered by eSON™, the advanced RAN management software by AirHop Communications, facilitating seamless integration with MetroStorm clusters.”

Wazco MetroStrand is a “single sector,” 700MHz strand-mounted basestation which is functionally equivalent to one of the 4 sectors of the Wazco MetroStorm metrocell announced last month at the LTE World Summit in Amsterdam.
