GigOptix Announces Sampling of LX8220, New 40G Thin Film Polymer on Silicon (TFPSTM) Mach-Zehnder Modulator (MZM)
GigOptix Now Sampling New 40G TFPS Modulator, the LX8220
Continuing to Extend the TFPS Successful Product Line with Second Product Release of 40G DQPSK
GigOptix, Inc. (OTCBB:GGOX.ob – News), a leading supplier of high performance electronic and electro-optic components that enable next generation 40G and 100G optical networks, announced that they have begun sampling their LX8220, a 40G Thin Film Polymer on Silicon (TFPSTM) Mach-Zehnder Modulator (MZM) used for Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (DQPSK) modulation.
Following on the successful deployment of the LX8401, GigOptix expands their modulator offering with the LX8220 strengthening their position in the fast growing 40G DQPSK market. In a most recent report on 100G and 40G components, Ovum forecasted that the 40G DQPSK DWDM market would grow to over 68,000 units by 2015 with a CAGR of 66%.
The LX8220 is a small form factor, low power consumption modulator designed for use in 40G metro, long-haul and ultra long haul optical transport applications. This modulator uses GigOptix’s proprietary and disruptive TFPS technology to bring to their customers the lowest power, smallest footprint modulator available in the market.
