New iPECS ES-5048XG takes energy- and bandwidth-efficient, cost-effective 10 gigabit networking to the next level to help accelerate the move to the 10G data center

The new iPECS ES-5048XG 10 gigabit data center switch is available now through LG-Ericsson’s network of expert resellers and integrators.
A 48-port 10G SFP+ managed switch providing exceptional performance, low latency, high energy efficiency and advanced features, the new iPECS ES-5048XG will play a huge role in transitioning 10G Ethernet into the data center. Enabling the aggregation of high-density 1U rack servers, the high-density 48 10G ports design of the ES-5048XG offers flexible network connectivity and features that are at the top of the requirements lists for next-generation data center design. Specifically designed to support the Converged Enhanced Ethernet market segment, the new iPECS ES-5048XG offers congestion and traffic management features such as Congestion Notification and Per Priority Flow Control to support the emerging Fiber Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) solutions for LAN, SAN and IPC networks.

To support its job of providing bandwidth, speed and performance for the heart of the data center, the iPECS ES-5048XG brings advanced switching features like 802.1Qau (QCN) for congestion notification, 802.1Qbb (PFC) for delay-sensitive services and 802.1Qaz (ETS) to support emerging Data Center Ethernet standards. FIP snooping, FCoE and ACL provide increased flexibility for FC SAN: using snooping capability, the ES-5048XG can implement dynamic data integrity mechanisms using ACLs that permit only valid FCoE flows. Support for hot-swappable fan trays and redundant power supplies make it ultra-reliable. And, while supporting the latest standards in Ethernet networking, the product continues to have a complete set of Layer2 features, including 802.1w RSTP to enable a loop-free network and redundant links to the core network while LACP provides load sharing and fault tolerance for inter connections. Restriction of IP Multicast traffic transmission to the registered members conserves bandwidth and reduces IP multicast traffic for optimal performance, and security is assured with 4K IEEE802.1Q VLANs, port/MAC/subnet/protocol based VLAN, Private VLAN edge, GVRP, GARP, VLAN trunking and QinQ tunnel.
