Micro Modular Technologies Announces New GPS Receiver Module Using SiRFstarIV Technology
The MN8010 is a Tiny GPS Receiver Module with Outstanding Sensitivity in Weak Signal Environments
Micro Modular Technologies (MMT), a leader in low-power, small form-factor GPS receiver modules, announced today the availability of a new, SiRFstarIV-based GPS receiver module, the MN8010. The new module is based on the GSD4e GPS receiver chip from CSR and adds new features and performance enhancements over previous products. Packaged in a small, 10mm x 10mm package, the MN8010 replaces the company’s flagship module, the MN5010HS. “Our new MN8010 module provides greatly increased sensitivity to low-level GPS signals,” remarked Alfred Low, CEO of MMT. “The cold-start acquisition sensitivity of this new product is -148dBm, while tracking sensitivity is -163dBm, which is much more sensitive than the product that it replaces,” continued Low.
The MN8010 is a very highly integrated 48-channel module, and includes an on-board LNA, TCXO, real-time clock circuit and crystal. The LNA gain may be programmed by the user for high or low gain for greater ease in designing with passive or active antennas. The MN8010 has a standard UART port and also includes an I2C interface for connection to external sensors or optional external EEPROM. It also includes an active jammer remover that removes in-band jammers up to 80 dB-Hz, and can track as many as eight continuous wave jammers. The new module operates over full industrial temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees C.
