TeleCommunication Systems Announces Off-Board Navigational Service that Runs on the QNX Neutrino Realtime Operating System
TeleCommunication Systems Introduces Off-Board Navigation Service on QNX Neutrino Realtime Operating System
Connected Navigation Supports Hyundai Blue Link(R) Telematics Platform
TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ:TSYS – News), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, today announced that it will ship an off-board navigational service that runs on the QNX® Neutrino® Realtime Operating System to support the Hyundai Blue Link®, an all-new telematics platform for upcoming Hyundai vehicles.
TCS enhances the QNX solution by integrating cloud-based connected car functionality that supports dynamic turn-by-turn navigation and location-based destination searching. TCS supplies original-equipment manufacturers (OEMs) the ability to incorporate off-board search and navigation capabilities that fully utilize vehicle sensors and display components.
“The TCS solution highlights how navigation technology can improve driver function and safety,” stated Linda Campbell, director of strategic alliances, QNX Software Systems. “Drivers receiving voice-prompted directions are able to keep their eyes on the road while being guided to their destination.”
TCS, working with ATX, the telematics service provider for Hyundai Blue Link and a leading developer and integrator of customized connected vehicle/telematics services to global automobile manufacturers, created a real-time, cloud-connected solution that improves navigation and makes driving less stressful, such as receiving alternate routes based on the latest traffic conditions or the locations of the lowest gas prices in the area. With full sensor and GPS radio integration and navigation features such as hybrid routing, the system will continue to operate in certain situations when cellular coverage is not available. Other features include tightly integrated in-vehicle hardware display and software as well as ATX’s digitally optimized, voice recognition technology.
“Major automakers like Hyundai realize that equipping vehicles with leading-edge telematics solutions is the kind of innovation that distinguishes them in a highly competitive market,” stated Steve Petilli, senior vice president of TCS’ navigation and telematics group. “TCS works with partners and OEMs to provide navigation and other cloud-based services incorporating secure communications and customized solutions that allow manufacture control over user experience.”
TCS is featuring Hyundai’s Sonata Hybrid at booth 2211 at CTIA Wireless at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando FL.
Blue Link is a registered trademark of Hyundai Motor America Corporation.
