Powerwave Launches New Remote Radio Head with 65 MHz Instantaneous Bandwidth for Flexible 4G Networks
Industry’s broadest bandwidth digital RRH for use in 3G or 4G networks
Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV – News), a global leader in end-to-end advanced wireless solutions, introduced today a remote radio head that features a 65 MHz instantaneous bandwidth.
This instantaneous bandwidth capability, which eliminates the need to either “tune” the product or offer multiple products to cover multiple bands, means that carriers can now deploy a single radio head that can be configured via software for a multitude of carrier configurations and technologies, without having to physically revisit the cell site.
The new broadband RRH is designed for 3G or 4G networks operating in 700 MHz to 2700 MHz bands. The integrated software defined radio allows for simultaneous operation of independent protocols providing seamless migration of legacy 3G networks to LTE®. The product is part of Powerwave’s Inside Out Solutions™ that boost data throughput at any time for LTE systems, both indoors and outdoors, providing an enhanced experience no matter where the user is located.

The small and lightweight form factor coupled with a fiber fed structure enables rapid installation and remote management. This broadband RRH can be tower or rooftop mounted, supporting an extensive combination of carrier configurations.
The remote radio head is highly configurable and provides wideband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multi-mode capability with power levels ranging from 10W through 50W per transmit path in combinations of 2T2R, 2T4R and 4T4R. It is capable of supporting multiple air interfaces HSDPA, EV-DO, WiMAX™, LTE simultaneously and is available from 700 MHz to 2700 MHz.
