Tecore Networks, a global supplier of 3G-4G mobile network infrastructure, today announced the launch of the All-In-One 3G-4G Enterprise Femtocell System, a complete solution enabling mobile operators to effectively deliver WCDMA, HSPA+ and LTE coverage and services tailored to medium- and large-business environments. The system is based on Tecore’s all-IP, next-generation iCore®, capable of managing a full suite of access solutions including Tecore’s iNodeB femtocells and picocells, as well as 3GPP-compliant access products.

Femtocell technology has mitigated operators’ coverage issues at the residential level, by leveraging a local access point connected through the existing wireline broadband network, a solution which works well in addressing a handful of subscribers. Now as businesses look to bring the same model of localized wireless broadband service to the enterprise, the approach must be upgraded to address both feature set and bandwidth requirements. The extension of femtocell technology to the enterprise requires a complement of scalable components that can operate both as an extension of the commercial network but also provide the localized private network capabilities and services. This challenge is not met by today’s large-scale centralized infrastructure focused on mass markets. Much like the PBX revolutionized office communications in the 1980s, Tecore’s end-to-end solution is a paradigm shift for enterprise-level wireless broadband access delivering the feature set, scalability and connectivity required.

The All-In-One 3G-4G Enterprise Femtocell System opens up a new frontier in scalability for operators:

  • An all-in-one core network platform implemented in software allowing enterprise-level scalability; support in the iCore can include the following key architectural components: UMSC / MSC / VLR, SGSN / GGSN, EPC, HSS, AAA, SMSC and MMSC
  • Scalable in capacity and cost for enterprises from 50 to 5,000 users
  • A wide range of access solutions including femtocells for distributed offices or picocells and microcells for larger facilities and campuses
  • Multiple operation modes including standalone private networks, multi-site, or roaming interconnect with the commercial operator’s network
  • Self-organizing network (SON) features to implement state-of-the-art operations and maintenance
  • Interworking/connectivity with existing infrastructure such as corporate PBXs and LANs
  • Localized information security including encryption of communications between users and between locations.

With nearly 20 years of experience in supplying innovative core and radio access network infrastructure to operators, Tecore worked closely with its partners to define a solution that provides effective coverage and services for enterprises. The company developed the All-In-One 3G-4G Enterprise Femtocell System in response to these challenges, and has packaged this solution to enable operators to roll it out seamlessly within their own networks and with ease of installation at the customer premise. The system further leverages iCore’s all-IP software-defined architecture to enable upgrades to new technology via software plug-ins.

Tecore Networks will be exhibiting the All-In-One 3G-4G Enterprise Femtocell System at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February 14-17 at Stand 8C78. The Tecore executive team welcomes visitors to learn about the company’s products, share their requirements and determine the optimal solution.

“In the last two years, femtocells have begun to mature as a technology, but the current deployment model makes them best suited for isolated locations such as homes or small businesses,” said Jay Salkini, President and Chief Executive Officer, Tecore Networks. “iCore is well known for its capabilities and scalability in operator core networks, and now we have adapted it to effectively manage enterprise networks at the edge, bringing an unprecedented level of capability to higher tiers of enterprises.”
