Telos Corporation Releases AMHS 3.14, New Version of the Web-Based Organizational Messaging System

Telos Corporation Unveils New Version of Automated Message Handling System

AMHS 3.1.4 Features Collaboration and New Operating System Among Major Upgrades

The new version of the Automated Message Handling System (AMHS), developed by Telos® Corporation, features a new operating system, upgrade to an enhanced sequel server, improved search engine and a host of collaboration capabilities.

The new version of the Web-based organizational messaging system, AMHS 3.1.4, will move to Microsoft Windows 2008 and Sequel Server 2005 and includes an enhanced search engine from Autonomy. AMHS is widely used across the Department of Defense (DoD), with coalition partners and other government agencies. Messages sent using AMHS are encrypted or decrypted at the AMHS server so users don’t have to manage the complexities normally involved in message security protocols.

“One of the major features to 3.1.4 includes the addition of Unified Communication Collaboration (UCC) capabilities, such as instant messaging, Web and video conferencing, and application sharing,” said Mike Masters, vice president of secure messaging solutions for Telos Corporation. “Eventually we are headed to a scenario where if I want to pass along some information and I am sitting at my workstation, I can decide the best way to share that information, out of a huge field of capabilities.”

AMHS represents a vast improvement for delivering organizational messages across the DoD. Previously, DoD used a fixed infrastructure known as AUTODIN, where messages were sent to a communications center, printed and hand-delivered to a recipient’s mailbox, much like the United States Postal Service. In the early 1990s, the Defense Information Systems Agency moved to a heavy client-server infrastructure called the Defense Message System (DMS) which had the capability to handle attachments, such as maps, videos and spreadsheets.

AMHS has proven to be more efficient than previous processes. The newest software update to AMHS 3.1.4 will enhance ease of use and further improve the way organizational messages are securely delivered across the DoD.
