QSC Deploys Acme Packet’s Net-Net 4500 SBC for IPfonie Centraflex IP Centrex Service
Acme Packet Unlocks Potential for QSC’s Next Generation Network
Net-Net SBC Flexibility and Feature Set Helps German VoIP Provider Optimize Revenues and Reduce Costs
Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT – News), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that German telecommunications service provider QSC AG (QSC) has deployed Acme Packet’s Net-Net® 4500 session border controller (SBC) for its IPfonie®centraflex IP Centrex service. The Net-Net SBC is enabling QSC to grow its high-capacity, next-generation network, utilizing the broad feature set of Acme Packet’s Net-Net OS to reduce costs and expand service-level capabilities without requiring modifications to its core network.
Cologne-based QSC offers businesses of all sizes a comprehensive portfolio of high-quality voice, data and managed services over broadband or leased line access to its high capacity Next Generation Network (NGN). QSC employs approximately 700 people throughout Germany and operates on a nationwide scale, connecting over 200 German cities with populations of more than 40,000.
QSC chose Acme Packet for its industry-leading feature set, which provides QSC with the flexibility to address a growing number of service-level requirements. For one of these, a simultaneous ring feature, the Net-Net SBC controls inbound calls that are “forked” to multiple destination endpoints, applying policies that allow QSC’s core switches to more gracefully manage each call leg without requiring expensive configuration changes to those switches or other core network elements. QSC also uses the Net-Net SBC for SIP session routing and load balancing, which helps QSC meet its service availability goals by reducing the likelihood of service outages caused by equipment failures within QSC’s data centers.
“The flexibility and feature-richness of Acme Packet’s solution is helping us deliver the range of capabilities for our fast growing NGN,” said Frank Thelen, CTO of QSC. “The Net-Net SBC helps us quickly address complex customer requirements in order to grow revenues and achieve greater customer loyalty.”
“We are proud that QSC, one of the leading NGN providers in Germany, chose the Net-Net 4500 to accommodate the growth made possible by their network expansion,” said Seamus Hourihan, executive vice president of marketing and product management for Acme Packet. “The Net-Net SBC delivers the unique control functions and features that will allow QSC to further expand the breadth of their services going forward.”
