Sony Ericsson Announces South African Wave, FIFA World Cup Content Service
Sony Ericsson Launches South African Wave
Sony Ericsson is set to provide consumers with a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the FIFA World Cup™ this summer, as it launches a brand new user generated content competition; The South African Wave.
With World Cup fever currently running high in the build up to the tournament in South Africa this year, football fans all over the globe will be taking part wherever they can, be it by watching the games on television, talking about the tournament on social networks, or actually being there to support their nation with all the passion and glory that they can muster. Sony Ericsson has announced that it will be giving a few lucky supporters the chance to do just that, all they need to do is help create the longest online stadium wave on record.
The South African Wave, which will run until the end of the World Cup on the 11th July, asks football fans to submit their own recreation of the wave that became famous at the Mexico World Cup in 1986. All fans need to do is head to www.sonyericsson.com/wave, upload their video or film it there and then via webcam, submit and share it for the chance to win tickets to the FIFA World Cup™ Finals this summer.
A spokesman for Sony Ericsson commented: “The conversation and chatter generated by the World Cup both offline in living rooms and pubs all over the world, and online on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, is growing at an exponential rate as we build up to the FIFA World Cup™ Finals in South Africa this summer.
“We’re delighted to be giving a few lucky supporters the chance to show their passion and team spirit at the tournament, and are very much looking forward to seeing their waves.”
The South African Wave follows on from a number of competitions conducted through both the Sony Ericsson YouTube and Sony Ericsson Facebook pages, offering fans unique opportunities to win a range of prizes, from handsets to exotic trips away.
