TeleCommunication Systems Introduces SwiftLink Tactical Transportable Tropo (3T) System

TeleCommunication Systems Announces Availability of SwiftLink(R) Tactical Transportable Tropo (3T) System

Solution Provides the Industry’s Most Robust Tactical Modular Tropo Solution for Long-Haul, High-Bandwidth, Low-Latency Communications

TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. (TCS) (NASDAQ:TSYS – News), a world leader in highly reliable and secure mobile communication technology, today introduced the SwiftLink® Tactical Transportable Tropo (3T) system, a small and lightweight Troposcatter solution with the most robust Tropo technology available on the market. Teaming with Comtech Systems Inc., the world leader in troposcatter communications technology and a subsidiary of Comtech Telecommunications Corporation (NASDAQ:CMTL – News), this solution enhances the TCS product portfolio by adding Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) capability to its Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) flyaway family.

TCS SwiftLink 3T ensures that users have access to long-haul, high-bandwidth, low-latency tactical communications. It uses a C-band feed to deliver troposcatter communications utilizing common modular VSAT platforms with multiple upgradeable frequency options. The solution is available with either TCS’s 1.2M or 2.0 SNAP VSAT antennas and is compatible with the frequency bands and operating diversity prevalent today.

Through the use of the Comtech Systems CS6716A operationally proven tropo modem, the TCS SwiftLink 3T system utilizes dynamic bandwidth allocation to minimize operator set-up, resulting in less training, troubleshooting and configuration. Path analysis software tools with integrated planning maps ensure mission-critical communication links are established without the burden of complex configuration, giving today’s Warfighters a reliable, end-to-end high bandwidth solution. Importantly, it offers backwards interoperability with legacy tropo systems.

“The 3T system provides cost-effective, high bandwidth communications in a package that small teams can quickly and easily deploy,” said James Sprungle, vice president of government programs at TCS. “The TCS SwiftLink 3T combines advancements in modem and antenna technology that are the perfect complement to our existing SNAP VSAT product line. Both TCS and Comtech Systems have demonstrated past performance in developing and implementing communications systems that operate in the most adverse atmospheric conditions. The 3T represents a new industry standard at the cutting edge for tactical transportable Tropo products.”
