SDMS represents a major evolutionary leap in the product mix previously offered by the company.
The SDMS product family delivers a complete, end-to-end, enterprise-wide solution for line-rate network recording, monitoring, and analysis. All of the SDMS family products are fully integrated with Wireshark and are designed to extend Wireshark functionality throughout distributed network environments. The SDMS product family includes The Shark Appliance, The Shark Appliance Kit, and The Pilot Console. Shark Appliances perform remote network analysis, continuous line-rate traffic recording and monitoring, while the Pilot Console seamlessly connects with Shark Appliances to provide an intuitive and interactive interface for remote analysis and troubleshooting.

The Shark Appliance
The Shark Appliance is a high-performance network analysis, monitoring, and recording solution that delivers enhanced network visibility, anomaly detection, troubleshooting, and retrospective analysis. Based on CACE Technologies’ TurboCap full line-rate GigE capture solution, the Shark Appliance is capable of sustained multi-gigabit per second, high-fidelity recording of network traffic. In addition, the Shark Appliance provides a novel interface for the manipulation and in-depth analysis of multi-terabyte network traffic recordings. Fully integrated with Wireshark, the Shark Appliance supports packet filtering based on Wireshark BPF and Wireshark Display filters. Seamless interaction with distributed Shark Appliances is achieved via the Pilot Console, an enhanced version of CACE Pilot.

The Shark Appliance Kit is designed for customers who want to build their own Shark Appliance. For maximum flexibility and cost savings, use your own hardware to build the Shark Appliance.
The Pilot Console
The Pilot Console is an enhanced version of CACE Pilot™, capable of seamlessly and securely accessing and controlling one or more remote Shark Appliances. All of the features of CACE Pilot are available in the distributed environment, including an extensive collection of Views, drill-down analysis, retrospective visualization and analysis of long-duration capture statistics, a flexible trigger-alert mechanism, and simplified, professional report generation. Once connected, the interaction between the Pilot Console and Shark Appliance is seamless, with remote traffic sources appearing as local sources to which Views can be applied. In addition to being able to perform remote network analysis via Shark Appliances, the Pilot Console can access and analyze local trace files and live traffic captured on the Console’s local interfaces.
