Global Consumer Goods Company Upgrades Video Conferencing From ISDN to IP via Glowpoint

Chooses Telepresence interExchange Network (TEN) to Communicate With Subsidiaries, New Acquisitions, and Other Businesses Worldwide

Glowpoint, Inc. (OTCBB: GLOW), a leading provider of advanced video communications solutions, today announced that a global consumer goods holding company has now migrated virtually all of its video conferencing systems from ISDN to IP on Glowpoint’s Telepresence interExchange Network (TEN). Glowpoint’s managed services and conferencing services for the client, in combination with TEN, yield average monthly recurring revenues of nearly $30,000.

The client, whose name has been withheld due to confidentiality requirements, acquired two companies within the past two years, and selected Glowpoint to assist in managing video communications between the acquired companies and the client’s corporate headquarters. The customer utilizes Glowpoint’s TEN and managed services for internal and external business communications, as well as to conduct research and training sessions from its global research center with scientists throughout the world.

As part of the annual agreement, the client has full access to Glowpoint’s “in-the-cloud” infrastructure, which includes: multiple MCUs from leading manufacturers, such as Polycom’s RMXTM, Tandberg’s CodianTM, and Radvision’s ScopiaTM; gateways for PSTN calling; video operator and messaging services; and dial plan management.

Due to the client’s unique criteria regarding network security and equipment, Glowpoint implemented multiple solutions to connect each location to TEN:

  • TEN Overlay Connect: Offers Quality-of-Service, dedicated IP-network connectivity separate from a client’s corporate network
  • TEN Enterprise Connect: Peers a corporate network into the TEN cloud
  • TEN Internet Connect: Brings the TEN cloud to a client’s sites via public internet

Glowpoint’s Vice President of Marketing Jonathan Brust said, “Seamless internal communications are vital for any organization, but they are also becoming crucial for interaction with other businesses worldwide. Glowpoint’s cloud-based managed services are available worldwide, and allow for full interoperability so that no client has to invest in, or manage, its own infrastructure. Organizations can simply join Glowpoint’s growing video communications community to benefit immediately with unmatched ease.”

Glowpoint’s TEN community currently interconnects more than 6,000 video systems, in more than 35 countries, and includes clients from virtually every business sector, such as consumer goods, engineering and consulting, media and entertainment, finance, legal, government and not-for-profit, varying in size from Fortune 500 companies to small- and medium-sized businesses.
