Roving Networks To Distribute G2 Micro Systems ICON Wi-Fi Development Kit and Modules
Roving Networks, a preferred partner of G2 Microsystems, announced the immediate availability of the G2 ICON development system. Roving Networks is the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of the ICON development kit, providing designers a low-cost, easy to use development system for creating 802.11 b/g Wireless LAN enabled products.
The ICON development kit enables designers to quickly integrate ultra low power, compact 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi modules based on the G2 ICON firmware. Complimenting Roving Networks wide line of embedded wireless modules and development kits, the ICON firmware and development kit provides an easy to use path of integration for G2 Microsystems’ single chip Wi-Fi SOC into embedded systems.

Roving Networks sells and distributes both the ICON and Roving firmware for use on the ultra-low power, WiFly GSX surface mount module (RN-131G). This compact 802.11 b/g module includes eight analog sensors, ten general purpose I/Os and a real-time clock for time stamping and wakeup. Data is transferred across the UART, SPI or SDIO interface. The WiFly GSX module has both an on-board chip antenna and U.FL connector for connecting an external antenna.
