CACE Technologies Releases WiFi Pilot v2.1, a Significant Upgrade for 802.11 WLAN Analyzer and Key Component of WiFi Pilot Solution Bundle
CACE Technologies Releases WiFi Pilot v2 Upgrade
Complete 802.11 WLAN Analysis Solution with Spectrum Analysis for Under $700 Adds Support for “Back-in-Time” Forensics, Triggers and Alerts
CACE Technologies, Inc., sponsor of the Wireshark open source project and developer of tools that enhance the Wireshark user experience, today released WiFi Pilot v2.1, a significant upgrade to their 802.11 WLAN analyzer and key component of the WiFi Pilot Solution Bundle. The addition of a “back-in-time” feature provides retrospective analysis of data saved for long periods of time. Alerts and triggers (called “Watches”) bring the ability to set alarms and notification parameters on many View metrics, and the interface has been enhanced, offering even more user-friendliness and productivity.
Sophisticated Time Control Mechanism
Viewing network traffic metrics computed over long periods of time can be challenging. With WiFi Pilot’s new “back-in-time” capability, you easily navigate through network data captured over extended periods of time with just a few mouse clicks. Based on the selected time interval, sub-sampling and data aggregation techniques are used to optimize the granularity of the visual presentation of live and off-line traffic metrics.
Watches: Advanced Trigger and Alert Technology
WiFi Pilot v2.1 includes advanced triggering and alerting technology called “Watches.” Create a Watch (trigger plus action) on many View metrics and be alerted based on a trigger condition computed on the metric. For example, you can be alerted on high bandwidth, number of retransmissions, signal strength, and more. When a Watch detects that a trigger condition has been met, an action will be executed. Actions include event logging, sending email, and starting a packet capture.
WiFi Pilot Solution Bundle and Components
Comprised of three components: the WiFi Pilot analyzer, an AirPcap WLAN adapter, and MetaGeek’s Wi-Spy spectrum analyzer, a WiFi Pilot Solution Bundle provides the best first line of defense in diagnosing 802.11 problems, complementing Wireshark analyzer use as required.
WiFi Pilot Analyzer
The core of a WiFi Pilot Solution bundle is the WiFi Pilot analysis application: a wireless-only subset of the popular CACE Pilot™ network analysis, visualization, and reporting tool. WiFi Pilot provides the same rich UI as CACE Pilot, including all of the display, drill-down and reporting features, but with an 802.11, MAC-level-specific focus.
AirPcap 802.11 WLAN Adapter
WiFi Pilot works exclusively with the AirPcap Family of WLAN packet capture adapters under Windows. AirPcap adapters are USB-based, capture full 802.11 data, management, and control frames, and range from an 802.11b/g capture-only adapter to an 802.11a/b/g/n capture and injection adapter with two internal and two external MC-Card connectors for optional antenna use. The integration with AirPcap adapters makes WiFi Pilot the only product to offer full multi-channel packet capture from a laptop-based system.
Wi-Spy Spectrum Analyzer
A WiFi Pilot Solution Bundle enhances 802.11 network analysis by including Wi-Spy spectrum intelligence technology from MetaGeek. Identifying any device generating signals in the 802.11 frequency band, Wi-Spy displays the type of interfering device along with possible manufacturers and model numbers, facilitating problem identification and resolution.
A WiFi Pilot Solution Bundle includes one of these Wi-Spy options: Wi-Spy v2.4i (802.11b/g, Chanalyzer Lite), Wi-Spy 2.4x (802.11b/g, Chanalyzer 3), or Wi-Spy DBx (802.11a/b/g/n, Chanalyzer 3).
Wireshark Integration
The WiFi Pilot analyzer and AirPcap adapters are fully integrated with Wireshark, allowing you to leverage the prodigious dissector library and corresponding display filters of the world’s most widely-deployed network analyzer. With WiFi Pilot, select a wireless traffic source and view it with Wireshark or use WiFi Pilot’s channel selection interface for complete control of your AirPcap adapters while capturing with Wireshark.
WiFi Pilot Pricing and Availability
WiFi Pilot Solution Bundles start at $665.00 USD and are available exclusively from www.cacetech.com/products/catalog/. Please contact info@cacetech.com for more information. WiFi Pilot owners can access the new product download link on demand through their CACE account.
