ORBCOMM Expands Terrestrial and Dual Mode Products with the Introduction of CDMA Wireless Services

ORBCOMM (Nasdaq: ORBC – News), announced today that it reached an agreement to provide services through one of the leading wireless network providers in the United States, expanding ORBCOMM’s terrestrial and dual mode wireless services to include CDMA. The agreement will allow ORBCOMM to offer blended plans that incorporate CDMA cellular with satellite wireless to create combined rate plans that will be marketed by ORBCOMM and its partners to address a diverse range of applications that require ubiquitous coverage and high-data rate capability.

“The addition of CDMA terrestrial wireless services to our satellite and GSM offerings will enable us to address a broader segment of the market,” said ORBCOMM’s Chief Executive Officer, Marc Eisenberg. He continued, “CDMA has a large base of users in M2M that can now benefit from our dual mode services, which combine cellular wireless networks with our LEO satellite network in one, seamless offering.”


ORBCOMM expects to make CDMA-based wireless services available to its customers beginning in August 2009.
