Wireless Matrix Releases Communicator 1000 Mobile Hotspot
Integrated 3G Cellular, GPS and Wireless LAN Platform
Available For CDMA and GSM Networks
Building on the tradition of innovation that produced the multimode cellular/satellite Mobile Base Station (MBS) communications device, Wireless Matrix (TSX: WRX – News) today announced the release of its Communicator 1000 mobile hotspot, the company’s state-of-the-art integration of 3G cellular, GPS and wireless LAN technologies in a single vehicle-mounted platform.
Certified for both Verizon Wireless’ EvDO Rev-A and AT&T’s HSUPA networks, the Communicator 1000 combines cellular service with Super G 802.11b/g wireless LAN technology for fast, secure WLAN communications. A 50-channel super sensitive GPS receiver provides rapid, accurate vehicle position.
The Communicator 1000 is fully integrated with Wireless Matrix’s FleetOutlook® solution for real-time vehicle management, including the TechConnect™ module for two-way messaging and navigation. As a result, the unit provides a full-featured platform to manage technician activity, track vehicle usage and identify significant impacts to fleet operations and costs. The unit also enables high-speed Internet/Intranet communications from a laptop or other computing device, all on a single wireless plan.
For communications extension in remote areas, the unit features a Satellite Sidecar™ port that enables seamless connectivity with Wireless Matrix satellite products such as the MBS-1000, MBS2 and SDM-5000.
The Communicator 1000’s design is field upgradable and expandable, with firmware that automatically updates itself remotely, field-accessible communications modules, a PCI Express Mini Card slot and internal expansion board, and eight external expansion connections. Its state-of-the-art design supports simultaneous full speed communications between 802.11G and 4G broadband technologies such as LTE and WiMAX.
“The Communicator 1000 is a powerful platform for fleet operators seeking the highest value from their vehicles and technicians,” said J. Richard Carlson, president and CEO of Wireless Matrix. “The added ability to refresh the Communicator 1000 with emerging technologies makes it the superior choice for companies that want a future-proof solution for managing their service chain.”
