TelVue Corporation Launches Alliance for Community Media (ACM) Compliant Shared Content Server (SCS)
TelVue Corporation Announces Beta Launch of Shared Content Server
Alliance for Community Media Compliant Server Enables PEG Stations to Share Video Content
TelVue Corporation (OTCBB:TEVE – News) announced today the launch of the Alliance for Community Media (ACM) compliant Shared Content Server (SCS) designed for Public, Education, and Government (PEG) stations to easily share broadcast quality video programming with other stations using the Internet. In addition to supporting station-to-station sharing, the system also acts as a distribution network for content producers who want to effectively reach the thousands of PEG stations across the country. This beta version of the Shared Content Server (SCS) will be featured by TelVue at the 2009 Alliance for Community Media – National Conference in Portland, Oregon. The company reports that the technical standards for the SCS were created by the ACM Working Group that includes other industry vendors, while the software development was completed by the TelVue Engineering team.
Some of the core features of the Shared Content Server include search, online video previews, download reports, and file and metadata standards to ensure compatibility with popular PEG broadcast and automation equipment. Metadata standards were based off of the PBCore specification designed by the public broadcasting community with support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Jesse Lerman, President and CEO of TelVue will be demonstrating the Shared Content Server at the ACM National conference on July 17th 2009.
Commenting on the beta SCS launch, Jesse Lerman, TelVue President and CEO said, “The Shared Content Server is an exciting step forward in program distribution and sharing among PEG access stations. Previous attempts at sharing systems lacked the file and metadata standards and compliancy checks required for a seamless experience across vendor equipment. When you download a program, you need to know it will play at your station and fit in with the rest of your workflow. The Shared Content Server will be a valuable tool for community media that will also help promote the benefits of modern broadcast equipment such as the TelVue Princeton(tm) series. We’ve integrated the sharing experience directly in our servers, so uploading and downloading is as easy as a single click of a button.”
