Beejive Announces BeejiveIM, the First Instant Messaging Solution for BlackBerry Storm
BeejiveIM for BlackBerry Storm Enhances Mobile Communication and Collaboration
Offers First Native Touch Screen IM Experience, Multitude of New Features
Beejive, Inc. today announced the public Beta availability of BeejiveIM for BlackBerry Storm, the first instant messaging solution which takes advantage of the Storm’s touch screen interface. This native, highly customizable BlackBerry app supports AIM/iChat/MobileMe, MSN/Windows Live, Yahoo!, MySpace, GoogleTalk, SameTime, ICQ, Facebook Chat & Jabber, allowing users to access all of their IM clients from one user friendly interface. With BeejiveIM, users can experience the connectivity and full features of desktop instant messaging from their BlackBerrys, making it much easier and cost-effective to communicate than via texting.
The Storm is not just the latest BlackBerry model to be host to the popular Beejive application. It also boasts a number of features that are new to the BlackBerry platform altogether. New offerings include:
– Voice notes: Truly personalize your IM experience by adding voice to
the equation via a smooth, direct transfer. Voice notes are also
perfect for on-the-go chatting, such as when you are walking down
the street or need to get information to someone quickly and don’t
have time to type.
– More chat styles: Customize your chat style with various colors while
setting custom backgrounds and wallpapers on the chat screen.
– GPS location: BeejiveIM takes advantage of the Storm’s location
features, adding a new element to chat. Send your current location
with a link to Google Maps via IM.
– Inline file transfer: Now more than ever, your BlackBerry can be a
your remote office as you can easily receive and review different file
types, including most image, audio, and video files, PDFs, Word
documents, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and Microsoft PowerPoint
documents.
– Better scrolling: BeejiveIM improves your BlackBerry Storm scrolling
experience with much more intuitive, easy-to-use “flick” scrolling.
– Push background notifications: When your phone is idle BeejiveIM can
receive notifications via push, instantly alerting you when a message
comes in without being a drain on your battery.
– Optimized chat screen: A new chat screen layout designed specifically
for the Storm’s touch screen increases the amount of space available
for viewing you messages.
“Many BlackBerry users have embraced the touch screen experience of the Storm, and they have been clamoring for an instant messaging solution that could not only take advantage of the Storm’s tactile features but even improve on them,” said Kai Yu, founder and CEO, Beejive. “BeejiveIM for BlackBerry Storm will help our BlackBerry community personalize and extend their communication. We look forward to their feedback — and to bringing these great new features to our other BlackBerry platforms in the months to come.”
