Vizada and Virgin Technologies Partner to Offer Inmarsat BGAN and Iridium Satellite Communications Services to the Canadian Market

Virgin Technologies and Vizada Team Up to Deliver Inmarsat BGAN and Iridium Services in Canada

Service Partnership Marks Vizada’s Expanded Presence in Canada, Extends Portfolio of Services for Local Satcom Customers

Vizada, the world’s leading satellite communications provider, and Virgin Technologies Inc., an Edmonton-based satellite telecommunications company, today announced that Vizada has expanded its North American distribution network to include Virgin Technologies. The two companies will partner to offer Inmarsat BGAN and Iridium satellite communications services to the Canadian market.

Vizada Solutions™, the company’s flagship portfolio of value added services, which includes email, satellite Internet connectivity, prepaid and more was a critical factor in Virgin’s decision to partner with Vizada. Vizada Solutions save time and money for end users and enable partners to develop additional revenue streams and achieve business efficiencies.

For example, Virgin Technologies will use The Source®, Vizada’s web-based information management tool, to activate, track and manage end-user accounts so that it can focus on serving customers and building its satcom business. Virgin will use Vizada’s Terralink™ Data Manager to manage data traffic online and in real-time. And, Virgin will use Vizada’s Terralink service to interconnect BGAN traffic with their VSAT hub, giving mobile workers a seamless, secure link to their corporate network.

“Vizada’s suite of Vizada Solutions will help us leverage the capabilities of satcom services here in Canada,” said Virgin Technologies President and CEO, Robert Smibert. “We are confident that, together with Vizada, we can deliver a more secure, agile suite of Inmarsat BGAN and Iridium services to local government and commercial customers than what has previously been available to customers in this market.”

Virgin Technologies specializes in innovative satellite telecommunications solutions—typically used in VoIP telephone and fax services, secure VPN over satellite, remote site monitoring and data reporting, and secure mission critical communications. It has made significant inroads with government entities throughout Canada and is one of only two Canadian service providers licensed to offer Inmarsat BGAN service. With its Inmarsat BGAN and Iridium services, Virgin’s government customers not only use broadband data and voice services, but they do so via the most portable, lightweight satellite terminals available in the industry.

“Vizada is pleased to have Virgin Technologies be part of our growing network of distribution partners,” said Bob Baker, president and chief operating officer, Vizada Americas. “Serving the diverse needs of government and commercial customers around the world is core to Vizada’s mission both past and present. Through Virgin Technologies, we can better serve the Canadian market, and we’re looking forward to achieving mutual success with our strong, new teaming relationship.”
