AT&T Unveils New High Tech Wireless Store in Suffolk
Store Offers Hands-On, Interactive Retail Experience for Customers
As people’s lives become increasingly mobile and fast-paced, and to address the growing demand for advanced wireless data products and services, such as the Samsung Impression(TM) and Blackberry Bold(TM), AT&T* today announced the opening of a new wireless retail store in Suffolk. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Delegate Chris Jones is scheduled for Friday, May 8 at noon.
“We’re very excited AT&T has opened a new retail location providing consumers with a wide range of cutting-edge wireless products and services,” said Delegate Chris Jones (R-76).
The store, located at 3575 Bridge Road in Suffolk, has a state-of-the-art, hands-on design to engage customers and provide a “try before buy” service experience. Trained sales consultants can provide demonstrations of a wide range of wireless products and services. Shoppers can also test out various advanced wireless data applications including GPS navigation, side-loading music, or managing photos.
The new wireless location is part of AT&T’s overall investment in the state. From 2006-2008, AT&T’s total capital investment in its technology infrastructure in the state of Virginia was nearly $475 million.
“AT&T is committed to creating economic opportunity in the state of Virginia by expanding critical wireless access, providing faster and better options for everything from reaching emergency services to conducting business to sharing information with family and friends,” said J. Michael Schweder, President, AT&T Mid-Atlantic Region.
AT&T’s third generation (3G) mobile broadband network is available in key parts of Virginia including Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News and Richmond. AT&T operates the nation’s fastest 3G network, according to recent data compiled by leading independent wireless research firms.
“Our new store design redefines the wireless sales experience by showcasing our wide portfolio of advanced wireless voice and data products in an innovative way that lets customers touch and feel today’s exciting new services,” said Erika K. Thompson, Vice President and General Manager of AT&T in Virginia and West Virginia.
The Suffolk store is led by industry veteran Harold Rose and has a staff of four employees who are trained to assist customers – both business and consumer – with purchasing decisions, customer service and technical support. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Sunday noon. – 6 p.m.
The new store brings the number of AT&T-owned wireless locations to 51 in Virginia with other nearby locations in the Chesapeake Square Mall, Greenbrier in Chesapeake and the recently opened store in the Military Circle Mall. AT&T’s wireless products and services are available in national retailers including Radio Shack, Best Buy, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, Kmart and Costco and at authorized retail locations across the region and online at www.att.com/wireless.
