Actiontec Electronics Launches The New Ethernet-Over-Coax MoCA and HomePNA Network Adapters for CEDIA and Custom Instalation

Actiontec Bridges Connectivity for Home Theater Applications — Unveils Ethernet-Over-Coax Solutions for CEDIA and Custom Installation Professionals

New Ethernet-Over-Coax Adapters Enable Easy Broadband Connection to Set Top Boxes and Other Internet-Ready Entertainment Devices Using the Home’s Existing Coaxial Cable

Actiontec Electronics today launched two products that simplify how HD video and other media-rich content are delivered throughout the connected home. The new Ethernet-over-Coax MoCA® and HomePNA(TM) Network Adapters give CEDIA and Custom Installation (CI) professionals an easy solution to leverage existing coax wiring for high performance data connections.

As most homes are already wired with coaxial cable, particularly around the entertainment center, coax provides the perfect conduit to bring an Internet connection to the growing number of Ethernet-enabled entertainment devices available today. Installation professionals can leverage the existing wiring for Internet connectivity to power their solutions — from set top boxes and media centers to DVRs, gaming consoles and more. Actiontec’s new network adapters easily add Internet connectivity to home theaters without the time consuming need for costly rewiring or relying on potentially spotty wireless adapters. As a result, CI professionals are able to deliver a rich online experience without the high costs and labor associated with structured wiring.

Actiontec’s versatile adapters provide support for both the HomePNA Alliance and the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) standards. Both standards give installers and customers the assurance of proven technologies that have been successfully deployed in millions of U.S. households. Actiontec partnered with two semiconductor leaders in home theater networking, Entropic Communications, the market leader in MoCA solutions and with design wins in the telco, cable and satellite industries, and CopperGate Communications, the market leader in HomePNA solutions, whose chips are used by four of the top five telcos in North America that are deploying IPTV, to bring these world-class solutions to market.

“People are looking for solutions to enhance what already exists in the home. Since most homes are already wired for cable or satellite television, an Ethernet to Coax Network Adapter is the logical choice to deliver a fast and reliable connection throughout the home, regardless if the broadband connection is cable, DSL or fiber,” said Mike Ehlenberger, vice president of channel sales for Actiontec Electronics.

“We are finding that CEDIA and CI professionals need ways to cost-effectively power broadband technology in and around the home theater system. The addition of our new MoCA and HomePNA Ethernet-over-Coax Network Adapters reflects our strong commitment to the CI channel, and will enable these professionals to be more competitive and better address the needs of the mid-market,” Ehlenberger continued.

Both products will be available via white box through Actiontec-authorized distributors. Interested Installation Professionals should send inquiries directly to channelsales@actiontec.com for product availability and pricing details.
