Anritsu Company Features Digital Broadcasting Test Options for Spectrum Master Handheld Spectrum Analyzer

MS2721B Combines High Performance and DVB Measurement Capability to Provide Users with Handheld Tool for Digital Broadcasting Field Applications

Anritsu Company is featuring a series of digital video broadcasting (DVB) options for its MS2721B Spectrum Master that provides field engineers and technicians responsible for installing and maintaining digital broadcasting systems with a highly accurate, easy to use handheld test instrument that weighs only 6.9 pounds. The combination of the options and high performance of the MS2721B makes the Spectrum Master ideal for conducting area surveys and field maintenance of digital broadcasting equipment.

A DVB-T/H analysis tool supports field strength, modulation analysis MER, constellation, frequency offset, impulse response, and frequency response measurements on terrestrial (DVB-T) and mobile terminal (DVB-H) digital broadcast signals. The option reduces the number of steps necessary to test both types of digital signals, making it simple for users to perform measurements quickly and easily with the MS2721B. The handheld spectrum analyzer also features Auto Reference Level and Detect Parameter buttons so the respective level and parameters can be set automatically.

Covering a wide frequency of 30 MHz to 990 MHz, the Spectrum Master provides the performance necessary for DVB applications. It can conduct fast sweeps automatically over the entire frequency range. The MS2721B also covers a wide dynamic range to ensure high accuracy when measuring digital broadcast signals.

Two other options have been developed for digital broadcast applications. One adds bit error rate (BER) measurement capability to the DVB-T/H measurement capabilities. The MS2721B can measure the BER of actual broadcast signals to evaluate the quality of those signals when the option is installed. BER and packet error ratio (PER) can be measured simultaneously, along with channel power and MER.

A third option accurately calculates the field strength of each incoming signal in single frequency network (SFN) environments. The MS2721B can measure level, delay and DU ratio of each signal with the option. Delay time is more accurately measured with this software because it expands the measurement range by six times using a +/-1 OFDM symbol rather than using conventional methods to conduct the test.

The MS2721B Spectrum Master offers best-in-class performance in a true handheld configuration. It has low phase noise of -100 dBc/Hz @ 10 kHz offsets, best-in-class typical DANL of -163 dBm in a 1 Hz RBW, resolution bandwidth (RBW) range of 1 Hz to 3 MHz and video bandwidth (VBW) range of 1 Hz to 3 MHz. It also has the fastest sweep speeds of any spectrum analyzer in its class.

The prices of the options start at $12,950. The MS2721B is $13,950.
