Kabel Deutschland Deploys Multiple Acme Packet Platforms for Voice over Cable Services

Acme Packet Net-Net 4500 and 9200 Session Border Controllers Support Germany’s Largest Triple Play Provider by Delivering a High Degree of Security, Service Reach Maximization and SLA Assurance

Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT – News), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that Kabel Deutschland GmbH (KDG), Germany’s largest triple play provider, has deployed Acme Packet’s Net-Net® session border controllers (SBCs) on multiple hardware platforms. The SBCs are used to deliver first-class IP interactive communications to KDG’s residential customers and secure IP interconnects to other service providers.

Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs are deployed to provide additional security, service reach maximization and SLA assurance for KDG’s recently implemented Kabel Phone service. For example, the Net-Net 9200 secures KDG’s interconnect borders and enables interoperability with other service provider networks to maximize its service reach.

“Acme Packet’s session border controllers and its support organization enabled us to go-to-market quickly with a compelling new voice product,” said Thorsten Waschkeit, Head of Voice Engineering from Kabel Deutschland. “The hardware flexibility of the Net-Net SBCs, along with an unmatched session border control feature set, enables KDG to support our goals to deliver high customer satisfaction and create a competitive edge.”

“Kabel Deutschland is delivering compelling and high-quality triple play services to its customers,” explained Seamus Hourihan, vice president of marketing and product management at Acme Packet. “Using multiple Acme Packet hardware platforms, our session border controllers help solve critical challenges that Kabel Deutschland faced in delivering seamless, high-quality interactive communication services over its next-generation networks.”
