IntelliNet Technologies Launches I-WLAN Gateway
Enables Seamless Delivery of Broadband Multi-Media Services Across Cellular and Wi-Fi Networks
IntelliNet Technologies today announced the launch of the Azaire™ Wireless Services Gateway (WSG) platform, targeting mobile operators, paving the way for high quality voice, video and data services and extending the consumer mobile experience seamlessly across 3G and Wi-Fi networks. The 3GPP Interworking WLAN (I-WLAN) specifications define the integration of ubiquitous Wi-Fi technology with the ever expanding 3G mobile network footprint to enable mobile operators to extend the scope of their network services across Wi-Fi hotspots and home zones and help generate additional revenue streams. The WSG product line is a result of the acquisition of Azaire Networks in June 2008.
“With the explosive growth of mobile data traffic, the WSG I-WLAN gateway is a very timely answer for mobile operators who want to cost effectively deliver rich broadband services with minimal impact to their existing networks,” said Anjan Ghosal, president and CEO of IntelliNet Technologies. “The WSG also provides seamless integration with the emerging IMS infrastructure providing operators additional avenues to deliver new and innovative multi-media services and a rich consumer experience.”
The WSG incorporates the 3GPP Packet Data Gateway (PDG), Tunnel Terminating Gateway (TTG), and Security Gateway (SeGW) functions, allowing subscribers to securely access mobile operator network services using dual-mode phones or laptops. The WSG performs the role of a mobile service provider edge gateway that securely integrates with the 3GPP-compliant Azaire™ AAA Server and the operator’s HLR/HSS for efficient subscriber management. In the TTG mode, the WSG connects to the mobile operators GGSN to deliver existing mobile operator services and in the PDG mode the WSG can connect to IMS or external IP networks for enhanced services. The WSG also supports a wide range of IP broadband access technologies including UMA and femtocells to enable the delivery of a broad blend of FMC services.
“The WSG I-WLAN gateway has already been successfully deployed in a field trial with a major global wireless operator,” added Mr. Ghosal. “We expect the use of I-WLAN technology to become more prevalent with the growth of 3G and 4G data services in the network.”
IntelliNet has been named as a Top Innovator in the EMEA leg of the GSMA 2009 Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition taking place at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 16 to February 19, 2009. IntelliNet’s I-WLAN Gateway was one of three products chosen in the ‘Most Innovative Carrier Infrastructure or Platform’ category. The Mobile Innovation Market community has created this competition to encourage breakthrough technology, applications, and services in the mobile industry and showcasing these innovative products and solutions. Winners will be announced on February 17th at Mobile World Congress.
