Medialink Announces Online Services for Media Professionals and Public Video Easier Access
Medialink Enhances Online Video Services
To provide media professionals and the online public easier access to video content from its corporate and association clients, Medialink Worldwide Incorporated (Nasdaq: MDLK) today announced enhancements to two of its signature online services: Mediaseed(R), the company’s professional internet portal, and the Interactive News Release, its primary consumer-facing service.
Mediaseed (www.mediaseed.tv) is Medialink’s portal that enables journalists to preview and download video and audio news content, as well as image files and documents, provided by Medialink clients. Mediaseed, launched in September 2007, also provides video content collaboration, archiving, distribution and publishing for marketers and public relations communicators. The new software enhancements allow fast-paced news operations to more quickly find, review and use compelling news content in a variety of formats.
“We gained valuable feedback from media professionals on their user experience with Mediaseed and developed a more robust platform for journalists to search, preview and download multimedia assets,” said Don Michels, Chief Technology Officer of Medialink. “We now make it easier for the media to preview video content and then download broadcast quality material they select.”
Other improvements to Mediaseed include advanced search, allowing journalists to quickly find content of interest based on criteria such as topic, format and keywords. The Mediaseed site was also optimized to provide faster file downloads. Lastly, journalists now can preview all video content and download documents and images without registration or log-in. Media professionals still must register and log-in to download video content, however, providing clients the levers of control.
A second version of the Mediaseed portal is used by clients to host their own content in a private-labeled Mediaseed portal that is integrated with their proprietary online newsroom or homepages for seamless access by journalists. These improvements are now available in the standard Mediaseed platform as well as the private-labeled version used by leading corporations including Seagate and Philips and associations such as the National Resource Defense Council.
Medialink also introduced a second version of its Interactive News Release, a social media-empowered, rich media version of the traditional written press release. This consumer-friendly online tool offers the public the power to publish news content with easy access to more than 30 social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Digg and Delicious, embed the material into their blogs, or simply e-mail video, still photos, audio and graphics to their friends, peers and colleagues. The INRs are promoted on Yahoo!, Google and leading wire services.
This alternate version of the INR now offers additional templates to showcase a single video segment, as opposed to the more robust original version which is optimized with multiple images, audio or video segments. Both are designed specifically to allow clients – professional public relations, corporate communications and marketing officers – to reach consumers directly and enable them to further distribute the material by becoming their own publishers.
“We constantly strive to develop products and services that improve the relationship between companies, journalists and the public,” said Larry Thomas, Medialink’s Chief Operating Officer. “At the same time, we understand and address the requirements of professionals in both traditional and online media by providing them with content in multiple formats they can access and edit to meet their specific needs.”
